Our Motivation

We decided to research aerosols because of South Korea’s ongoing air pollution issues, especially fine dust and particulate matter. Rather than studying air pollution as one broad topic, we wanted to understand one of its key components in more detail. This led us to focus on aerosols, which are tiny particles suspended in the air that affect human health, climate, visibility, and the economy. By studying aerosols, we can better understand the deeper causes and impacts of Korea’s air pollution problem.

Our goal

Our goal is to develop a deeper understanding of aerosols and the different ways that organizations and governing bodies try to reduce their harmful effects. Because our group members come from different majors, we wanted to approach this topic from multiple perspectives rather than looking at it only as a scientific issue. Our different backgrounds, including technical systems management and business management, allow us to explore how aerosols are connected to economics, industry, and society.

Through this research, we hope to better understand not only what aerosols are, but also why reducing them is such a complex challenge. By studying the methods used by governments, international organizations, and industries, we aim to learn how different sectors can work together to address air pollution. Ultimately, our goal is to show that aerosol reduction is not just an environmental concern, but also a shared responsibility that affects public health, climate, and the future quality of life.
